They also get training in all the available hearing aid technology. They must complete a full-time internship with mentoring by a certified Audiologist. They also must pass a national competency examinatio
n. When they successfully pass that examination they may add CCC-A to their title, which stands for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology. In each state where they practice Audiology they must also pass a state licensing examination. Each year they attend continuing education seminars to keep current in the technology and practice of the profession. Audiologists administer tests based on symptoms that are presented by the patient. If the patient has a medically treatable problem, they are referred to their primary physician or Dr. Hauslein or any other ENT that they request.
